An Evening with Jess Klein and friends

 — (CST, UTC-06) — (CST, UTC-06)

Casadb House Concerts, 7704 El Dorado Drive, Austin

Jess Klein came to this world to pull firebrand power and childlike joy from our darkest shadows. Her acoustic-driven, hook-laden story songs revel in the polychrome of human experience - joy, rage, sensuality and resilience. The New York Times calls her “A songwriter with a voice of unblinking tenacity.”

Jess has performed across the globe in pin-drop listening rooms, cozy theaters and at raucous festivals. She has toured nationally and internationally supporting Arlo Guthrie, Josh Ritter, Damien Dempsey, John Fullbright and Jonathan Byrd and has opened for such legends as Ani DiFranco, Steve Earle and Alejandro Escovedo. Jess has appeared on Good Morning America and NPR’s All Things Considered and has performed at the Newport, Winnipeg, Falcon Ridge and Philadelphia Folk Festivals as well as Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.

Jess is currently based in Hillsborough, NC, but will be in Austin the weekend of the show to start work on her newest album.

Jess’s 2023 single, “Annie’s Place”, is an ode to the sweetly dysfunctional neighborhood of musicians Jess lived with and loved when she was based in Austin from 2008-2016.

She can also be heard hosting the podcast “Jess Klein’s Big Table: Conversations with Artists and Activists” on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube.

At the March 2nd show Jess will be joined by songwriter Jenny Reynolds, producer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Mark Addison, and perhaps another renegade or two.

An Austin evening with Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas

 — (CDT, UTC-05) — (CDT, UTC-05)

Lamar Senior Activity Center, 2874 Shoal Crest Avenue, Austin

CasaDBs is honored to (again) host the Austin tour stop of Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas. This will be a magical evening of music in Austin, Texas! UPDATE: We will again gather at the Lamar Senior Activity Center at 29th and North Lamar Blvd. Directions below:

Since 2003 Alasdair has featured in a duo with cellist Natalie Haas, restoring the wee fiddle and big fiddle partnership that flourished in eighteenth century Scotland to contemporary prominence at the cutting edge of tradition-rooted creativity. Their debut album, Fire and Grace, was voted Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards 2004, adding to Alasdair’s North American Independent Record Distributors award for his Dawn Dance album in 1996, and they continue to thrill audiences internationally with their virtuosic playing, their near-telepathic understanding and the joyful spontaneity and sheer physical presence of their music.
